SLS Custom Stainless is owned and operated by Steve Lawler whose passion for the transport industry started at a very early age; in fact while still in his play pen where he would sit for hours watch his father Tom, of Tom Lawler Transport Pty Ltd washing and tinkering with his truck.Steve became a qualified plant mechanic before working for his father as a driver where his pride in the trucks led him to designing and fitting various stainless steel accessories which other drivers admired and wanted to know where they could obtain some of these high quality finished products for their own vehicles. This is how SLS Custom Stainless came about back in 2003.Since then, the business has grown, now employing a team of local young men and women who help turn out big rigs fitted to our customer’s special requirements or with standard accessories; rigs that have been bought to us from as far a field as North Queensland and Tasmania because — we try to go the extra mile on the finished product.Our products and services range from (but are not limited to) the more common accessories such as stainless steel sun visors, bug deflectors, tank trims, LED lights, grill mesh and bars and fuel tank wraps to specialised installation of Icepack units, centre mount mudguards and even slide out Engel fridge units. We source the very best in quality BA finished stainless steel from our suppliers and finish off all of our products with safety edges where possible and electrical conduit for quality, safety & durability.As part of our team, we have our very own draftsperson so we can keep up with the latest changes in truck models and can also customise your truck to your own ideas and needs.Due to the high demand for our products, we purchased an OMAX Abrasive Waterjet Cutter giving us greater control over our production schedules by doing our own in house cutting thereby reducing our turnaround time, so we can get the rigs back on the road and earning as quickly as possible.Don’t be mistaken to think that our Waterjet can only cut stainless steel accessories for trucks, or that it’s application is only stainless steel. This machine can cut a wide range of materials such as mild steel, aluminium, hardened tool steel, titanium, ceramic tiles, marble, granite, glass, stone, foam, rubber and even timber. With tolerance and accuracy within +/- 0.1mm, the waterjet cutting leaves little burrs and no thermal distortion.At SLS Custom Stainless our intention is to “do it once, do it right” always aiming for the highest quality, reliability, service and competitiveness.
